Help, Repair Install Not Working

When trying to do a repair install, I am doing the following:
1.. On the Welcome To Setup screen I press ENTER
2.. On the Licensing Agreement Screen I press F8
3.. On the Window XP Professional Setup screen, I press R.
After the files are copied, I get the screen that says Your Computer Will
Reboot In 10 Seconds. It then tries to re-boot again. I never get the black
Windows XP screen. It takes me thought the whole process again presenting
the Welcome To Setup screen, followed by the Licensing Agreement Screen.
Then, I get a screen that says Setup Has Already Attempted To Upgrade The
Following Window Installation. Setup Will Try To Complete The Upgrade Again,
Press ENTER. Then when I press ENTER I go through the same thing. It just
keeps trying to repair the install and never re-booting the computer. If I
take the CD out when it's trying to boot, I get Reboot And Select Proper
Boot Device.

Thanks

I should have suggested you try a different keyboard.

If your installation of XP is severely damaged Repair won't work. In that
case you have to reformat and install XP fresh, loosing all settings and
data in the process. I hope you can find another solution!

A long shot, but is your harddrive connected to the motherboard IDE
controller or to a Controller card. I had a similar problem with my drive
connected to a Promise controller card. You have to hit F6 to load the
drivers for the card, which I did. I did like you, and when it rebooted it
would hang. I moved the harddrive to the motherboard controller temporarily
and everything worked well.
