Help- Recovery Console Won't Close!

What an amatuer mistake! While my computer was booting, I accidentally pushed
F10 which brought up the RECOVERY CONSOLE, now, no matter how many times I
push exit, it is still opening the RECOVERY CONSOLE EVERYTIME IT REBOOTS!!!

I just need windows to boot normally so I can go about my day, but it seems
I am at a loss for ideas as to what to do. I called "The Geek Squad" from
Best Buy, and rather than look at the computer they quoted me $299 to do a
complete system restore. WHAT DO I DO?????

Try hitting F8 and see if you can at least get into safe mode

Hi Philo...

I tried F8, no luck. It just blows my mind that it wont start up normally
now...I am a novice, but I don't think that pressing F10 should throw the
whole computer off. Any other suggestions? :(

I noted you have solved the issues, so couldn't resist the following:

Holy feces, crapman! $299 to do a complete System Restore? Boy, are we
ever in the wrong business! I'm real glad you posted that - it's
criminal to charge that much without even having looked at a machine. I
assume that was a conditional quote too, and that any components etc.
would cost extra? Woof!
That would have indeed been an expensive lesson; thank the powers
that be for newsgroup participants who do so much to help so many.
I just checked their site and IMO they are one huge ripoff for what
they claim to do. It looks like most of the time what they do are back
up the data, clean install the OS, replace the data, and soak the
customer for the couple hours spent waiting for the backup and restore
operations to complete. If they're making money, here's a niche for
most anyone that's honest enough to do good work and pleasant enough to
get along with the public.

Cheers,

Twayne

And now you know one of the many reasons I always say to stay away from
places like the GeekSquad. They give the rest of us techs a bad name. If
you want to see even more reasons not to use them, go to
www.consumerist.com and search for articles about the GeekSquad.
