Remote Client using Windows XP
Server is using Windows 2000..

Server maps to a shared drive of the client(A) doesn't
work.
Client(A) maps to a shared folder of the server does work

Printer Redirection does not work.

Set up

Client A HeadQuarters
Printer A --//Windows XP ...........// Win2000
Client B--Printer B
Client C--Printer C

Server maps to a shared drive of the client(B or C) works
Client(B or C) maps to a shared folder of the server does
work. The connection between Client A is over a WAN.. Im
not familiar with network stuff.. what settings should I
check? I need to make printer redirection work, or just
install the remote printer.. I can ping the remote machine
from any of the pc's in the HQ, but I can't seem to access
any of their shares, nor their printers..

Thanks

Your info is very poor.

Anyhow, I will try to help with what I understand.

I believe you are running a win 2k TS(terminal server)
with maybe win 2k clients or xp etc.

If so, youe local drives will NOT map, that feature is
only for win 2003 server, or CITRIX ($5000 +)

Local printing is avail but ONLY for LPT printers. NO USB
printing or network attached or connected printing. There
is a way to print to HP printers if connected to a HP
print server etc.

Try this and shoot me an e-mail I will help.
Hope this gives u a start.

No. Redirected printing will work for any printer that is
connected and properly configured at the client. It can
be USB, LPT, COM, Dot4, Network...etc.

HOW?

PROVE IT, AS I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO EVER DO IT, REMEMBER
WE ARE TALKING WIN 2 K TS, NOT WIN 2003.

A little more info that i hope would help =)

Here's the situation, there's a network of computers on
the company headquarters.. and a remote client running
WindowsXP , the two offices are connected via WAN (i
think).. when other computer's in the company HQ connect
to the Terminal Server via TSAC (web) the Printers are
redirected and the we can configure the Terminal Server to
MAP to a SHARED folder ON THE CLIENT...AND IT WORKS..
But when the remote client connects via TSAC, he doesn't
see his own list of printers listed on the Terminal Server
(from within the session), nor can he map the Terminal
Server to a shared folder on his local pc..

WHAT WORKS:
from local machines (HQ) to TS
-printer redirection
from TS to local machines (HQ)
-drive mapping (the client was the one who made the share)
from TS to remote client
-drive mapping (the server was the one who made the share)

WHAT DOESN'T WORK
from remote client to TS
-printer redirection
from TS to remote client
-drive mapping (the client was the one who made the share)

Thanks

Were you able to get this working with an LPT (parallel)
version of this printer?

Lexmark is notorious for having printer drivers that don't
work with terminal servers.

I apologise for that Mathew. Did not mean it that way.

I will give this a try, appreciate the explanation.

Thanks again.

Regardsing Shares,
Thanks! if thats the case, then how come the remore client
can map to a shared folder on the Server?

I hope you can reply to this.. ThankS!

Try mapping that printer to the HP LaserJet 4 driver on
the terminal server.

-M

Ok...this is what I expected....

In your ntprint.inf or printupg.inf file, you should then
add this line...

"FUJITSU XL-6600" = "HP LaserJet 4"

If that doesn't work, then try mapping that printer to a
different driver. Maybe another fujitsu driver will work.

As far as the shares go, the remote clients can map the
shares on the server if they are local. If they are in an
RDP connection and are trying to map a share within the
connection to the terminal server, then that is considered
local, since they are located on the terminal server
already (they are in an RDP session).

Thanks! I'll try nthis one out, but mind telling me what
the HP Laserjet is there for?
and why we picked that one?

ThankS!
