Help Please -- XP an Internet Explorer question

Please bear with me as I do need some help and have not read your
newsgroup all the way through so the answer might already be here.

Situation:

System is a 2 Ghz with 512 MB of ram running XP Home edition with all
current updates.

On a number of sites when I try to "drill down" beyond the main window
my IE seems to "chug along" very slowly and eventually times out.

System work fine until a couple of weeks ago but now I'm having some
issues.

Example: If I go to ebay... then to "my ebay".. everything is fine.
Then when I try to "drill down" to items or my ratings... it starts
but will never get there. I can immediately change sites at any time
if I want but cannot "drill down". This happens on a number of other
sites as well.

I have checked and cleaned my system of all "spyware" using SpyBot and
ad-aware, ran Norton Utilities but nothing seems to help.

ANY AND ALL help would be appreciated.

please email directly as sometimes when I go the the newsgroups it
hangs up as well.

Have you tried a System Restore to a date when IE worked
normally?

A bit afraid to do that as I have installed several devices as well as
I'm not sure of an exact date..

Not sure exactly how it would be done, but, assuming IE might be "damaged,"
you could do a "repair install."
You use the XP CD to do this:
