Help Please!! Speaker feedback

Hello!!
OK, so here's the situation. We just moved. Everything worked fine when
we packed up the computer. Brought it to new house and unpacked and set it
all up and everything else is working fine, but the external speakers. We're
getting a loud buzzing (feedback?) on the speakers. Tried muting and
unmuting the microphone settings, doesn't help. Checked and rechecked all
the connections (had more than one person do this). This is worse than the
Christmas lights!!! Worked when we put them away!!! Now they don't.
We also have alot of music stored on the computer and used to plug in a
transmitter and play through the main stereo system and it's speakers and it
doesn't seem to transmit.
Any suggestions?? Other than kick it??!!!

Please help!!

Sounds like surrounding interference to me.

Like somethign electronic is causing your speakers to make noises -
something is strong enough/close enough too them to make the noise transmit
through them. I have seen this a lot with cell phones and computers at
workplaces. Especially those that periodically check for email but don't
necessarily notify the user they have new messages. When it checks - if it
is near computer speakers or between a wireless mouse and the
transmitter/receiver - it can cause noise on the speakers and disrupt the
signal from the mouse.

Since you've moved, my first guess would be a bad ground for the speaker or
computer power cord. Try plugging it on in a different circuit. If that
doesn't work, before calling an electrician go to the hardware store and get
a little device that checks for bad grounds and reversed connections.
Describe it to them and theyll know what you want. The suggestions from the
previous responder are also worth checking, as well as big motors nearby such
as A/C units.
