Help please - boot up problem

Guest

I get the following message when I boot up:
"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\windows\system32\config\system
You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the
original Setup CD-ROM. Select "r" at the first screen to start repair"

Only problem is that I don't have the original Setup CD-ROM - I didn't get
one with my pc but it did come with Windows installed.

Any ideas??

I got nothing - pc is hand built but unfortunately, the company who built it
have gone bust!

They gave you no CD, or literature to tell you how to make a recovery cd?
Did you get a COA or Product key?

If not, guess you're stuck with buying a retail win xp cd.
