HELP : PC has problems after Internet Access or Outlook

Hi,

A friend has a weird problem.
On his 2000 machine Excel and Word run fine initially.
After Internet Access and/or Outlook (locks up at 20% when receiving emails)
Excel and Word cease to work properly.

When attempting to access Internet, SVCHOST reports problems (no details).
Excel reports OLE services not avaliable and locks up. Word has similar
problems.
Norton AntiVirus is unable to LifeUpdate and to verify its support period
(still valid).
It reports occasionally Renew in stead of the Final Support Date.
NAV showed no virus pressence.

I don't see any link between Internet Acces / Outlook and OLE?


Who can HELP ???????

Sounds like the Blaster worm.
