Help/ Outlook Deletes incoming mail

When receiving my mail outlook (2003) will delete various emails. It's
totally random. They don't go to my deleted folder they just disappear. I
checked the junk mail configuration. Nothing is checked to delete email thru
my Outlook, antivirus, etc. The programs are configured so suspected email
goes to my junk email folder. Could it be a virus. I've scanned my computer
for viruses, malware, spyware, etc. Help, this is driving me nuts.

Invariably when problems like this crop up, it is not Outlook doing the
deleting, but a rule someone added or some add-in like a firewall, antispam
or antivirus application interfacing with Outlook.
