cannot delete emails

In Outlook 2007 I have 2 Sky email accounts that download to their respective
folders in Outlook. The folders have Inbox, Junk, Search and GMail folders.
The GMail then contains All Mail, Sent, Bin etc folders. The All Mail
folder has every piece of mail received, sent or deleted. I can't do
anything with the emails in this folder. If I select delete they become
greyed out and have a line through them, but shortly after the shading and
line disappears.
I have tried deleting then using the Edit, Purge but this has no effect. My
folders are now 38 & 29MB respectively but I have about 200 emails I can't
get rid of. Help please!

The "All Mail" folder in gmail cannot be manipulated from the Outlook side of
things. It's not really a folder on the server side. If I were you to change
your IMAP root folder path to be "[Gmail]" (without the quotes) instead of
null on the Advanced tab of the account properties, you might find it easier
to manage. You could then unsubscribe from the All Mail folder and it will be
removed from the Outlook list of folders.

Thanks Brian, the procedure worked. However, the email accounts now do not
have a deleted items foldersand emails are deleted, apparently forever. Is
there a way to give the folders deleted items folders, and ensure that items
I delete go into the folders?

Outlook's implementation of IMAP doesn't use a Deleted Items folder. It never
has. When using gmail via web, the mail server supplies a Trash folder that
acts as in the same way Deleted Items folder in Outlook acts. That folder
should be visible to Outlook, but it won't do anything from the Outlook side.
