Fixing where sent and draft emails go

I have a user on Outlook 2007 (using MAPI) who would send emails and save
drafts but not find them in his Sent or Draft folders. He eventually found a
Sent and a Draft folder in his Trash folder and this is where all his emails
are going.

I assume that, at one point, he somehow got Outlook to "delete" this (move
them to the Trash folder) and that Outlook happily continuing using these
"deleted" folders for processing. I also guess that Outlook recreated new
Sent and Draft folders back where they belonged (off the root folder of the
account) though they remained idle/empty.

How can I tell Outlook to use the normal ones, not the ones under the Trash
folder?

Clear the folders from the Deleted Items folder (after saving your needed
data of course) and start Outlook with the /resetfolders switch;
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /resetfolders
(note the space in the command)
