I have opened a folder that is stored on our server that only 2 people have
access to. When i opened it the font colour of 80% of the files listed was
blue. I have been using this folder and these files for around 3 years and
they are usually black.
would anyone know the cause of why they would change colour?

thank you!!!

It likely means they are on an NTFS drive, and they're compressed. This
has no practical effect on you.

Hi Kaitlin.uk,

Files that are listed in blue font have been compressed using Windows XP
file compression. Disk Cleanup may have been run with the "Compress Old Files
to save space" option selected.
