help!! my system wont let me in!

I have a sony vaio PCG-K315M XP based system.I had recently downloaded a
programme called "PC booster"..it asked me if i wanted to shift my dll cache
to the hard disc to save space on my ram ....now all hell has broken loose an
my system wont let me in it says <windows root>\system32\hal.dll file is
corrupt..and it asks me to reinstall that file.i do not want to erase my hard
disc by inserting he recovery discs. how do i proceed now? please help me if
anyones got any expertise in this area
