Hello,
Ok so i can solve most problems on my own but im totaly dumbfounded
with this new problem. The problem is that something is stopping me from
doing anything on my computer eg. load programmes or even worst it wont let
me access Task Manager to see what program is doing this. Also my computer is
slowed down massively.

I have tried:
=> Restarting to no effect
=> running existing spyware software to no effect
=> Uninstalling any programmes installed in the last few days
=> installing virus programmes - but as i said the computer wont let me
start any programmes instalations etc.

Can anyone help me?!

Hi

Is there any entry in the Event Viewer that may help point towards the
problem?

You mentioned that your computer has slowed down, this tells me that
most likely there is some process or program running in the background
that is taking up alot of CPU time.

First thing I would do would be to download the following program,
CodeStuff Starter, it allows you control what programs start when you
first bootup. The idea is that most likely a virus has infected your
computer and starts up a little program at bootup to slow down your
computer.

Afterwards bootup your computer in SAFE MODE, safe mode only begins
only the most necessary files to run windows XP. Attempt to install
the program under safe mode. Afterwards reboot normally.

Once you have rebooted and you are at your desktop, run CodeStuff
starter look at how much CPU time is taken up (its near the bottom).
Click on the PID label on the top, this sorts the programs by CPU
time. Look at the programs that take up the most CPU time, see if you
recognize them, if not highlight them and then "terminate" and
"refresh". Keep on doing this until you see the CPU time drop. Usually
you can tell which program is the culprit. Once you do that click on
"startups" find the program and disable it. This will prevent it from
running again.

If this doesn't work, then download "registry mechanic" install and
run under "safe mode". Repair all registry errors then reboot normally
see if that fixes anything.

Hopefully this helps.
