help me

I've been having a problem with everything on my computer
since I updated the software when reccommended. Many
programs, such as AOL Instand Messenger and Windows Media
Player will open up and then disappear right away. I need
help. Thanks for anyone who tries!
 
What software did you update...was it Windows XP Service
Pack 2? Please be more specific

Try a new computer,they seem to run a lot better!
