Help me please with game play!

I have just installed The sims2 and everything installed but I keep getting a
message that says system memory. please help me. Operating System:
Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2

Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: Dell Computer Corporation
System Model: OptiPlex GX110

That message would appear if your system doesn't
meet the minimum requirements for the SIMS 2. In
this case, you don' have the minimum 256MB RAM.
