HELP ME!! IE will only work in safe mode w/networking .. help!!!!

I ran live update for norton antivirus - after restarting my computer IE only
works in safe mode. I tried reverting backing my settings back to an earlier
date (restore???). Neither firefox nor netscape work either when i try to
access the web. When I ping my ip address it gives me a response as well as
when I ping websites. My firewall is disabled. I have no idea why IE only
works in safemode. Is their any way to reinstall Service Pack 2? When I
click on the link it only tells me that I already installed the update. Is
there anything that you can think would cause IE not to work in regular mode.
I got an error message that said "c:\windows\wt\webdriver.dll is not a valid
windows image". Please Help

So you set your computer's boot order to boot from the CD drive - then your
hard drive. But when you booted with the SP2 CD-ROM installed it would not
reinstall. If so, that is weird as it worked for me.

My first step would be to run Ad-Aware SE Personal

Followed by Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.3

Obviously if you cannot get IE working well enough to download these, simply
have a friend do it - then e-mail the attachments.

You may also want to run System File Checker

Insert your Windows XP CD-ROM
Then go to Start > Run
Then type
sfc /scannow

Let us know how it goes.

P.S.
Presumably you have scanned your system for viruses in Safe Mode.

Hi Chris :)

You might also try uninstalling the update that caused the problem from the
Add/Remove programs in the Control panel if possible and see if that helps.
If you can do that, then do a repair of your OS and IE

Be sure to visit Windows Update site and let it scan for all needed updates

Hope this helps :)
