I can't find any way to shut off the clicking sound my computer makes every
single time I hit a key. Please help, it's driving me crazy.

Jessica, this is not a function of windows...

are you using a laptop? Is it a click or a BEEP?

There is a 3rd party program that does a clicking sound but I doubt you have
that...
since it would turn off when you turned down the sound....

strange.. tell us more perhaps we can make some sense out of this

Yes, it is a laptop. Dell Latitude D600. I've had it for years and it's
never done this. It sounds like a typewriter. if you hold a key it sounds
like a cricket chirping.

Jessica, the only thing I can think of is some accessibility option....

go to START > CONTROL PANEL> Accessibility Options
and there you will see the following first window.. press each setting and
look
for anything that says SOUND on it and uncheck it....
also uncheck all those 3 settings on the first window, as you can see like
I have here:

http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/1409/screenshot1gy7.jpg

these features are for blind people or people with bad eyesight so they can
get
audio sounds with the keyboard...

tell me if this helps....because Im curious...

thanks...

This sound like an "option" on the laptop. Check in the BIOS/CMOS
screen so as to see if there may be an option for this sound. Or
consult your manual and/or Dell's web site.

I had already pulled up accessability and there was nothing checked on it.
what is a bios/cmos?

You can access the bios when the computer first starts, it has a black
screen with white letters, there is says something like "press DEL to enter
setup"
then you get into the bios and look for an option...

But if you ask me I dont think its that.. its more like a prank
application.. do you have
anyone who might want to play a joke on you? Press Alt-ctrl-del and go to
the process tab then make screenshots of all the items and upload them to
imageshack
and give us the links so we can see whats running on the laptop...

I tried and I cannot figure it out. I can only make the screenshots into a
word document so i cant upload it to imageshack.

You can paste screen shots into PAINT and save them as jpg files.

you changed the keyboard and you did not tell us??????

When you post a question you should give all possible information...

leaving out the fact like changing a keyboard wastes our time...
since we are trying to find other unrealated solutions!

With out a doubt what little time you devoted to this problem devastated
your life. Don't be so rude jerk wad.

While Jim's comment might have been worded in a somewhat softer manner,
changing out the keyboard would indeed have been helpful in resolving
the problem.

I agree. Some folks are not all that familiar with the computer and I
do not feel that they should be chastised for that but merely educated
in a civil manner.
