Hi everyone

one of my problems will be answered as long as I can install the fan
it is a zalman heatsink
with a zalman fan.

I am strruggling to install this
as it leaves about an inch to 2 inches between fan and heatsink
scared of turning on the machine incase the cpu burns
surely this is too dangerous?

Flopps you might be the man that knows a lot here
im sure u recognise the fan and heatsink!
i still after all this time couldnt get it working. :(

help
please see the pictures am i doing this right?

this is what the fan looks like im not so sure if ive installed it properly obviously i have not screwd it in:

this is the sideview as you can see the way i think its installed there is a gap of 1-2 inches between heatsink and fan its confusing me:

this is the fan i wanted to install i think vr sent it but it dont fit because from the very first picture u can see these capacitors around the cpu

tis picture is from my other pc thread i got three graphics cards this is two of them
which one is the best?

PHEW that took a while but it was worthwhile

That's just fine...... stop panicking ;)

Use a temp monitor program to se what your CPU temp is, Speedfan is good but as I recall that Gigabyte motherboard CD has monitoring software dedicated to that board.

That's the Zalman flower cooler where the fan is mounted overhead bolted to the PCI slot brackets.

The 2" gap is ok.

Now just chill and have a Guinness or whatever you prefer to relax... :D

oh its one of those things, do you know what model the heatsink is ? it looks like one of the passive ones but i'm not 100% sure from that angle

is it one of these ?

if it is then as long as the fan is blowing over it you'll be fine

also what CPU have you got under it ?

Edit: beat me to it flopps

The second card is best, that's the one I sold you, right? It actually has 256Mb of memory, not 128Mb as printed on the box.

yes yes that is the one
flopps sold me this one

I think it looks exactly the same.

the cpu at the moment is xp2200 BUT
i will be running xp3200

me does it matter if there is a gap between the fan and heatsink?

as you can see there is about 1-2 inches
it worries me

you think itll be alrite?

ive not powered it up yet
was wanting everyones advice.

Hi yes it is

see I am so lazy that i didnt bother opening it up yet

but 256mb definetly wins hands down. :p

so why is the cover different from the book's content?

you sure?

with that gap thats there? mmmmmmmmmmmmm

damn those Zalman heatsinks must be good.

My temperature with my almost custom heatsink and fan was hitting 68C even 70C at the highest with that xp3200 TOO DAMN HOT!
i took it out tho and put in the xp2200 which runs around 60C

i want to run the xp3200 with this current setup that would solve a huge problem for me.

sorry flopps but you were DAMN quick last night that i didnt even see this one.

Did you use this fan+ heatsink before then?

am i installing it correctly?

as you can imagine i am a bit scared of burning out cpu
i got a software that monitors the cpu in windows and its pretty good.
