help i lost my dvd/rom totally drive E gone from computer

i have a pavilion xt 938. ihave tried system restore ,complete restore and i still have no drive E in my computer section i here my disk start then nothing at all any where a scrabble game disk was put in and it said core problem.i'am not sure what caused me to loose it i have tried everything all the trouble shooting avail everything anyone know how to fix this i'am at a loss on this one thanks bob
