HELP! I changed from domain to a workgroup with same username and now I can't login?

I need assistance since I had to reboot and now I can't login with the
username and password I used to use.

The pc is a dell latitude C640 laptop with win2k pro. I don't have
admin rights since this is a work pc.

I keep trying to login but I says: "The system could not log you on.
Make sure your User name and domain are correct, then type you
password again. Letters in passwords must be typed using the correct
case. Make sure that Caps Lock is not accidentally on."

Please let me know if there is a solution for the login.

Has your user been added to the local box as a local user? If it's just a
domain user account then that would be why. It can't contact the domain so
you can't login.

I had a similar problem.

In addition to changing from domain to workgroup, I also
changed the option from "this is a computer connected to
the network" to "this is a standalone not connected to the
network" (or something similar).

I had a request to enter an Admistrator password, which I
dutifully did and also confirmed it.

Upon rebooting, the machine neither accepts the
Adminstrator userid + password nor my original Userid +
password.

Tried rebooting with last known configuration + did not
help either.

I have the same problem with XP Pro. Did you ever find a solution?
Please post back about what you had to do. Thanks in advance!
