domain/workgroup login problem

Have a dell laptop issued by employer running windows xp pro service pack2.
It is setup for my login to employers domain having to input username and
password. Was having my son hook it up to our homw wireless network and he
changed the settings from a domain login to a workgroup login. He entered no
username or password for the workgroup login, but now cannot login to
computer at all. Is there a way to change this back without being able to
loginto windows at all. Have tried safe mode, last know good configuration,
safe mode with command prompt and all are asking for login. Any help would
be appreciated. Thanks

The problem was caused because your son removed the domain membership.
Normally there are no local (non-domain) user accounts created on domain
computers. You would need to log into the built-in local Administrator
account (for which I doubt you know the password) and rejoin the
computer to the domain. You cannot do this remotely. You need to bring
the machine to your company's IT Dept. and they will rejoin it to the
domain. There are ways of hacking into the local Administrator account
and changing the password (easy) but your company's IT Dept. will be
even more unhappy with you if you do this and you still won't be able to
log into your domain user account.

While you are there being nice to your company's IT Dept. people, ask
them how they want you to handle using the laptop at home. Here are
general steps for doing this, but you should most definitely check with
IT first.

You don't need to change to a workgroup just to access resources on it.
Once you've logged in using your domain account (using cached
credentials), and have an IP address on the home network, you can map
drives, use printers, etc., very easily - one way, in a command line:

net use x: \\computername\sharename /user:computername\username <enter>

Try this:
