*HELP* folder options view tab is, well, screwed up....

sorry for the double post but had problems posting

When I click on folder options in windows explorer or control panel and
then the "View Tab" (where like all folders / reset all folders) is, in
the scroll box, there is nothing displayed. When I go to
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced nothing
is there, its like those registry keys were deleted; How can I repair or
replace the default keys?

Type this in Start, Run:

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

If that does not help, or if some of the options are still missing, export
this key from another XP system and then merge to the 'subject' computer:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder

System Restore makes a copy of the registry for each restore point. If you
run that tool, reverting back to a date before the problem appeared should
bring back the missing items.

Also, it's unusual for this item and its corresponding registry entries to
disappear. If a registry cleaning tool was used recently, was an "undo" set
created? If yes, "undo." Then run the tool again but be selective about
what it is allowed to delete.

System restore was un-successful, not sure when this happened as I
rarely change these settings; didn't use a reg cleaner or anything;
checked for spyware, worms, and viruses, came up clean....any other
suggestions ?

No idea. But, I'm concerned about the "Use Simple file sharing
(Recommended)" option. Hence my mention of XP Pro.

Depending....

1. Insert the Windows XP CD
2. Click Start/Run and type:
"rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection C:\Windows\Inf\sr.inf"

System Restore core files should be reinstalled.

Alternately, you may also open Windows Explorer, navigate to
"C:\Windows\Inf" folder and right-click sr.inf (choose Install)

Not sure what you are saying or expecting.

1. Folder options are different via Windows Explorer and via the Control
Panel.
2. Restore Folder Options/View.....note that these settings will have to be
modified.
Line 368: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
3. Do you know what caused this?

ends at 367 :)

not sure what caused this, all i know is that under the views tab for
folder options, there is nothing there.

not sure when this happened (system restore is functional) or why.
