Help Error code 39 on ethernet adapter

I have a CnetPRO200WL PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter that is not working. The
device manager
device status: Windows cannot load device driver for this hardware. The
driver may
be corrupted or missing(Code 39)
I am tring to fix a friends computer it is a DEll XP service pack 1. It had
a lot
of viruses, spyware. (cleaned up most if not all) The Ethernet may have
gone down
after service pack 1 was installed. This is what I have tried so far.
Roll back Driver.
Uninstall device and install new driver.
Change PCI slot with a startup while card was uninstalled.
Tried two NEW cards same problem And Calld India (That was fun).
Startup with last good config no help.
No system restore point to use, and no xp disk.

I think this is a registry problem. I have seen a lot of code 39 in forums
for DVD\CD,
but those reg fixes dont apply to Ethernet cards.

You need to locate the correct Dell drivers for this adapter and re-
install them.

Or you can try to "rebuild" the IP stack with "winsockxpfix.exe" or
the Microsoft command that you type in the Command Prompt "window"
CMD.

netsh int ip reset netreset.log
