Ok i got An I/O Magic 16X DVD-RW yesterday i installed it and it wasn't
working. i consulted newsgroups and found out how to fix the error (code 41)
so it started working. I burnt a cd on it and was burning a dvd. I canceled
the dvd burning and all of a sudden the dvd burner wont read or write
anything! I tried dvds from blockbuster, burnt dvd's cds, burnt cds and
everything. Ive tried a number of things including uninstalling, removing the
dvd burning software, going into regedit. But no luck. It cant read cds,or
dvds, and it cant write them either please help me im frantic! By the way it
reports it as a Dvd driver. any help would be appreciated.

It may be simply a bad burner and if so, look around for an LG dvd burner,
you probably won't find one in your local computer store, but online, you
can buy the latest one for about $70 and you won't have any issues with an
LG, i have used them for years; they burn anything and no installation
issues. Trust me. I wouldn't buy another brand. LG GSA 4163 is the newest.

It sounds like you had problems right from the beginning. Is it possible the
drive is faulty? Can you return it?

In Sandman <[email protected]> had this to say:

My reply is at the bottom of your sent message:

Having used them all, it seems, I've found myself happy with AOpen... Great
features, price, warranty. Just added to give an alternate view on the
brands.

Maybe. But if you purchased a toaster that failed to work anymore when
you decided to manually pop up your toast, what would you do with it?

If it is still under warranty return it and get a new drive. What you are
describing sounds like a faulty drive.
