It all started because I was updating my Adobe CS2 to 3 beta which requires
XP SP2.
So I tried to update my Win XP SP1 to SP2 but it said I needed Int Explorer
7.0.
I downloaded Int Explorer 7.0 but could not install it because it said I
needed XP SP2!!!!!!!!!! So I can't install anything!!
I tried to get automatic updates to download Int Explorer 7.0 but it
wouldn't as I don't have Win XP SP2, naturally!
What can I do?
CS3 needs Win XP SP2 which needs Int Explorer 7.0 which needs Win XP SP2!
I'm sooooo frustrated!!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please someone help
me!!!!!!

Do not install any BETA software within a productive environment.

No idea where you got that update from. The original Microsoft WinXP SP2
update comes along with IE 6.02 and does not require IE7 in order to
install. That update was released some years ago and there was no IE7
available at that time. Therefore, IE7 *cannot* be the requirement. Try
here and note that this download applies to stand-alone systems as well:

That's correct.

In the fall of 2005 Microsoft was offering SP2 CD-Roms by ordering online. I
don't know if this program still exists. If so, try ordering the CD-rom. It
may take up to six weeks to get to you but it makes installation easier. My
update went smoothly the first time. You definitely do not need to install
IE 7 for compatibility with SP2 (but you may want to do so anyway later on)
.. There is nothing wrong with IE 7; I have been running it for several
months now. There were even some computer repair shops offering to do the
SP2 upgrade for you for free, according to the Microsoft website a while
back. Try visiting the SP2 upgrade website at www.Microsoft.com for more
information.

Hi Detlev,

Thanks for the advice and feedback but sorry I don't understand what you
mean by installing a beta 'within a productive environment.' (?) Could kindly
explain it?
Did you mean to not install it if CS2 is working just fine? I'm sure you
didn't mean that I should not install it WHILE CS2 is open. I'm just not
sure what you mean.

Yes that was what exactly what I thought, SP2 was around when IE7 wasn't. So
why the requirement. Could i have download the wrong SP2 file??? I'm pretty
sure I got it from MS download website. Very strange. I might be wrong.
