HELP CANT SHUT DOWN WINDOWS XP_SP2

PLEASE HELP!! I installed a few programs most recently of which was magiciso
which required a restart to finish installation but when it attempted to
restart the computer nothing happened. So i hit the restart on the start menu
and it started to turn off but then got stuck on saving your preferences.
After a few hours of this I restarted my computer manually by pressing and
holding the power button and turned it on again but it took a longer than
usual time for the computer to start up and when it did start the start menu
and taskbar would not show up, it would show a small horizontal bar at the
very bottom that looked as though the taskbar was hidden but i would click on
it and changed the setting so its not hidden and nothing happened. Also
windows would only start programs onstartup but not things like help and
support or my internet connection, I'm always connected via DSL so I dont
have to connect or anything I'm usually always connected. Finally After a few
reboots and starting in safe mode I got the taskbar and start menu to show
thought it looked like the classic view not the xp theme and i checked the
themes and it was normal not set to classic but I was able to uninstall the
last 3 programs i had installed since my last restart and attempted to
restart again, but alas again it was stuck on the saving settings page of the
shutdown. I'm scared to turn it off manually again can anyone help???

ok well an update here in case anyone else has the same problem as me. After
the screen was stuck I manually turned off and on my computer and it was fine
now. I'm positive the problem was the magiciso, not sure y but I believe it
was because I had magiciso and daemon tools a similar program running
simultaneously. Just putting this out there for anyone with a similar
problem, so just uninstall magiciso and do a munaual off and on and you
should be fine!
