HELP! Cannot find my d:drive

Hi first time user to this site so please be kind! I have just tried to load
a CD and it no longer continues to auto run or open. It now appears to have
totally disappeared from my laptop. Only c;drive and f:drive now available. I
have Windows XP and even tried a dvd and watch it on windvd (icon still
there) but to no joy. Have i totally deleted this somehow? if so how can i
retrieve it. If anyone can provide some idiot proof answers id really
appreciate it. Many thanks Paul : )
