Help badly needed - xp sp2 printing issues

I am having some weird printing issues. When I try to print pdf
documents from adobe reader, only the first 1 or 2 pages print (it is
different everytime). When I print a file, the program will say that
it is sending all the pages to the printer, but only one will actually
print. I have checked all the printer settings, and all seems to be
in order. This problem seems to be limited to pdfs from adobe.

Also, when ever I print any document that has a pictue in it, the
picture doesn't print. All of the text will print, and I can see the
place where the picture is supposed to be, but it isn't printing. It
doesn't matter what type of document and what program I use. Images
just won't print.

Both of these problems started happening at the same time, and both
started in the last couple of days. In that time frame, I haven't
installed anything on the computer.

I am at a loss for what to do. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

I have tried that. I am starting to suspect that it may be caused by
a windows update. This problems seems to have started around the same
time that a large number of updates were done. I am doing a system
restore to see if I can make it work. If that works, I will try to
narrow down which update caused the problem.
