Help and Support centre

My help and Support centre has stopped responding.
I have tried the following:-
Switched off and re-booted
Scandisk of c:
switched off virus checker and Firewall.

Can anyone advise what to do next to get it working again.
I don't want to re-load XP to the factory state unless I
really have to.

I have Windows XP Home Edition
version 2002
Service pack 1
