Headers in Word Templates

I have created a template with our company logo in the header. I would like
to apply this template to existing documents. I have gone into the
"Tools-Templates & Addins" attached the new template, checked the
"Automatically update document styles", but it doesn't seem to work in Word
2000 or Word 2003. What am I doing wrong. When I create a new document the
logo is there. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

That's just the way templates work in Word. When you attach a new template
to an existing document, you make available the styles, AutoText entries,
macros, and toolbars from the template, but it doesn't insert any text --
read http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/attachtemplate/index.html.

To include the logo, create a new document that contains it, and then
copy/paste the content of the existing document into it.
