Importing template created in Word 2003

I have been sent a template created in Word 2003 as an email attachment. I
have Word 2000. Whichever way I download/save/attach the template, although
the styles in the template are available to use in a document, the customized
toolbars and keyboard shortcuts that are supposed to be there are missing.
Am I doing something wrong? Or is there some incompatibility between 2003 and
2000?

After you have saved the template to your hard disk, if you create a
document based on the template, then do you see the toolbars?

Hi Stefan,

No - although the styles are there, there are no toolbars/keyboard shortcuts.

If you look at the Toolbars tab of Tools | Customize, do you see the toolbar
names? If they are listed but not checked, just check them and then click
Close. If they are not there, you probably will have to recreate the
toolbars (and shortcuts) in the template.

Hi Stefan,

They aren't there.

I think that you've confirmed what I suspect - that these customized parts
have been lost somehow when the template was sent to me.

Thankyou for your help!

The person who created the template may have inadvertently saved the
toolbars in the Normal template, which is the default location. You can ask
the sender to copy the toolbars to the correct template and then send the
"updated" version of the file to you.
