I have an internal naming convention of ".private" and an external dns space
of ".ca" and recently, messages have been getting blocked because the
message-id shows the ".private" domain. I have Windows 2000 SP3 and Exchange
2000 SP3 installed. Is there anyway to edit the message-ID without changing
the name of the domain/server?

Thanks,

Jeremy.

yes, this is called the helo domain. under your smtp server properties,
under the advanced tab i believe there is a textbox that is full qualified
domain name i believe and should be showing the name of your server. change
this to a public dns record that matches your outbound ip address and you
should be all set.
