Any help on Event ID 10010 on a Windows 2000 Server (Sp4)
with Exchange 5.5 installed on it. It is also the only
Domain controller in the Active Directory domain.

Server starts up and after few minutes slows down to a
halt and crashes.

Help!

Thanks.

I see that this post hasn't been answered and I want to be honest with you.
I do not have a specific answer for you without knowing more about the
trouble. I do, however, have a place for you to start looking if you'd like
and that's about all that I have to offer at this time. This link will take
you to the KB where you'll read about DCOM Clients not being able to create
objects and I've encountered this before. However, like the page says, when
I encountered this it was on an NT system and a rather long time ago.

That's the link and while it is specifically for NT I think that the
information may very well be valid for 2k as well. I'm going to guess that
you've already done a search for various things like viruses, trojans,
spyware, and other forms of malware? I think that soon I'm going to start
referring to all of these as simply crapware or something as too many things
are blended threats these days.

While reading about this, yes I tend to do a few searches in various search
engines and forums before posting, I came across someone who suggested that
disabling the DCOM service might work. This was on a 2k system. No report if
it worked or not but it seems a bit excessive to me. It might work as a
temporary solution so that you can get into the system more fully to
diagnose it better but it's certainly not a long term solution.

If you'd like post back with any more information that you can think of (if
there is any?) and I'm sure that someone here will know a bit more about
that than I've been able to find. If, perhaps, you find a decent solution
you could even post the answer as it's not an entirely unheard of error.

the only event with ID 10010 I found is the one relating to DCOM as Gales
said. I doubt that this is the cause your system crashes. Try to get us some
more information, maybe we can help.
