Greetings all. Just upgraded to Vista and windows mail. All was going
well, especially transferring all the email details from my old computer,
until!!!!! I noticed that the header bar no longer said windows mail, it had
changed to say Outlook Express provided by ntlworld.com

NTL were my ISP three years ago, so I am at a loss as to where this message
has come from.
Windows mail works perfectly, but this errant message is annoying to say the
least.
Does anyone know how to rid myself of it?

Please...
TIA

Have you rebooted since that happened, if not see if that removes it?

Has the same thing happened to the Window title of Internet Explorer?

Other than that you will need to search the registry and remove all
instances of it.

I am a little reticent about proffering the following, so please be careful,
and please report back how you get on.

If you are unsure about editing the Registry, then get someone to do it for
you.

The following is advice that is offered for OE, hopefully you should not
have any problem?

It is phrased for another ISP, so for Freeserve read ntlworld

To remove the Freeserve wording from the headers in Outlook Express:

1. From your desktop, click on Start
2. Click on Run
3. Type regedit and click on OK
4. In the Registry Editor click on Edit/Find and in the box presented make
sure all the options are checked. Then do a search against the value
"provided by Freeserve" (type these words exactly as per the Window Title in
Outlook Express).
5. The search should identify the correct registry entry - against
a key name of WindowTitle (Not Window_Title).
6. Double click on the name "WindowTitle" and edit out the words "provided
by Freeserve".
7. You will need to repeat steps 4,5 & 6 repeatedly - to remove any multiple
instances of the words "provided by Freeserve".
8. Don't change anything else in the Registry
9. Exit from the Registry Editor.

Best of Luck.

This is the key you need:
Look for a string valued key in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows Mail called
"WindowTitle" and change it to whatever you want.
