HDTV video editing, and frame grabbing

I just bought a Sony HDR-SR1 high definition video camcorder
and plan on videoing my grandchildren of age about 1 yr.
To get the right picture I plan on grabbing the ideal picture from
a frame.
I wonder if Window's Movie Maker can handle this HDTV signal
and if I can capture a frame. (I know the compaction of the data
is different and that many frames are just differences from the first
frame. That means only a few frames have the full data.
Does any one know if this is a problem? Or will some other video
editing software will allow this frame grabbing?

Yes...once you have your footage imported
into Movie Maker...it does have an option to
make screencaps. I doubt that they will be
the quality images you are hoping for.

I guess you are aware that video screencaps
are never as sharp as still shots from a high
resolution still camera. Not only that but many
still cameras have a continous burst mode that
takes several high resolution shots in sequence
at something like 2.0 fps. That's how I get the
shots I want.

Anyway...if you go to the following website and
navigate to...Import Movie Source Files / Video...
you may find some useful info.
