hi,
if anyone can help me that would be great!
I keep getting error message when i try to send or receive messages, I have
uninstalled avg, checked and rechecked settings, and put windows mail in list
of allowed programs in firewall.
error message is:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.sky.com', Server:
'pop.sky.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error:
10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Your settings look fine to me. There is no obvious reason why the
connection with the server is failing. Are you able to visit websites?

On the chance that the mail account has been corrupted, delete
the account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate the account.

I am also having the same problem with my email account. I have deleted and
tried re-setting up my account, but it gives the same kind of error message.

I can get to the internet, but not the mail server. I have also disabled
the firewall and anti-virus software, but it didn't help.

Has the email ever worked?

Don't assume your issue is exactly like someone else's.
Please right-click on the error message, copy, then paste it
into a reply here.

hi, many thanks for your reply, I deleted account completely turned
everything off last night and when i restarted today i redid the email
account and it worked fine.
thanks for your help - just not sure whether to reinstall avg as email was
working before i installed that, Is there any anti-virus that won't pose a
problem?

Glad to hear your email is working now.

You can reinstall AVG, but during the install phase you must
select the custom install option, which then allows you to
unselect the installation of the mail checking module.

Another option is to go with Avast, because you can use its
default install, then afterwards go into the settings and turn off
mail checking.

seems i almost got it but not quite yet.please help
Account: 'Mark', Server: '110', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Error Number: 0x800CCC19

i am sending mail but it will not go out...........i tried to change my
email but that did not work either

"110" is not a valid mail server name. You get the correct mail server names
from your mail service provider.

Do you get an error message when you try to send? If so,
right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.

When I first used "mail contacts" I was asked for outgoing and incoming
server, plus host. I did't know, but foolishly guessed.

To correct that I talked to technical support and after an hour of attempts
it still wouldn't send.

My guess is the original garbage I entered is still there: Host-ATT, etc.

How do I access that starting window so I can erase that eroneous
information.

My screen comes up with: (Rundll 32); host internet explorer has stopped
working; and error message on host ATT.

(e-mail address removed)

I am sorry, but your system does seem messed up.

You should delete the account and re-create it. Deleting the account won't
delete the messages. Be sure you have the account information, such as
incoming and outgoing server. Then go to "Tools | Accounts" and remove the
account. Then add it.

The problem with Rundll32 sounds serious and might be causing other problems
and/or prevent things from working. You probably need to get your system
fixed but you need to use a different newsgroup or forum for that. If you
can afford it, get a professional to help you.
