I tried using Windows Mail, Outlook '07 and am currently using Windows Live
Mail Beta. I currently get the error message below; can anyone help me to
solve it? I'd be ever so grateful to anyone who could.

Unable to send or receive messages for the pop.sky.com account. The
connection to the server has failed.

Server: 'pop.sky.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: POP3
Port: 995
Secure(SSL): Yes
Socket Error: 10060

See:

The settings listed are for Outlook Express, Windows Mail uses the same
procedure.

Please copy and paste any full error messages into any reply.

Why are you using port 995 instead of 110? Try changing that on the Advanced
tab of your account properties, if that does not work change it back.

Try setting up the account afresh according to the instructions, if it works
remove the old account.
HTH?

Hi Steve, thanks alot for replying; much appriciated. Here is the error
message I received after changing the email port to 110.

Unable to send or receive messages for the pop.sky.com account. Your server
has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include
server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.

At least it appears to have connected for the connection to be terminated?
Set the account up again from scratch using the link that I sent earlier.

Can you log into your mail account at:

You should not use SSL with port 110.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select the account, Properties,
Advanced, and uncheck the SSL boxes (for both send and receive).

Follow-up: If the below suggestion does not fix the problem,
take a look at these new instructions from your ISP:
http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skycom/support/broadband/article?contentid=848210

Sky recently made some changes to their email setup. Since these
new setup instructions are quite different from those in the earlier Sky
URL (see below), you may want to call Sky and ask them which set of
instructions you are supposed to follow.

Gary, THANK YOU! for sending me in the right direction regarding my Windows
Mail/Sky Gmail problem. It turns out Sky gave me the old settings for the old
email accounts; when actually I required the new settings for the new email
accounts they have recently set up. Many thanks for your help; I've at long
last cracked it!
