Having problem with DVD RW

Some few days before i installed the NFS II game. During installation
my OS shows the message of that "your system has been severely
damaged". After that message i cancel the installation of the game,
after that every function works properly except my dvd writer.
My dvd writer is burning or copying a disc with very slow speed. It
takes nearly 45 minutes approximately to burn a 4GB file at a speed of
16X. Can any body has a solution means it will be very useful for me,
since i will burn discs frequently.
I'm having WINDOWS XP SP2 as OS and LG GSA H55N is the DVD writer.

It could be, that the interface to the DVD drive has dropped to
"PIO" mode, instead of "DMA" mode. Check your IDE ATA/ATAPI
Controller entries in Device Manager.
