On the fly CD/DVD recording. Need advise

Here's my system:

INTEL P4-2.6C (800MHz FSB) CPU
ASUS P4C-800E-DLX MOBO
SEAGATE SATA 120GB 7200rpm 8MB CACHE
2 x HYNIX 256MB PC-3200 DDR400 (to be upgraded to 1-gig total)
SAPPHIRE RADEON 9200SE 64MB LITE (I plan to upgrade this soon)
1.44MB FDD (PANASONIC)
LG GSA-4040B 4x2,4x12x/16x32x DVD-R/+R -RW/+RW RAM

The LG burns DVDs at 4x, but rips at a very slow speed (not sure how
fast, but I'm told that DVDRs are set to rip at 2x?)

Anyways, I was advised to go with a standalone DVDROM player. I also
want to go for a standalone CDRW player, as I want to do on-the-fly CDR
recording as well.

I have my sata HD on my sata slot on the motherboard.

I have the LG DVDR drive on the Secondary IDE as Master.

I plan to buy the following:

LiteOn 16X DVD-ROM

LG 52X CD-RW/16X DVD-ROM

What are your opinions of the possible setup and where should I place
the devices? (LG 52X CD-RW/16X DVD-ROM as Primary Master and LiteOn 16X
DVD-ROM as Primary slave?)

Thanks for any input.

Cheers,

Sammy.

Try here,

If you are doing a lot of,"On-the-fly" recording you want the Cd/DVD
drives on separate IDE ports.

HTH :)
