I completely do not understand your last question. Please rephrase if
you want help.

Don't you mean "I don't completely understand..."? Get off your grammar high horse!! Apart from a superfluous 'd' in Shannon's post it made perfect sense. We all make typo's now and then, just read some of the posts in these NG's!
Remarks like yours may only serve to frighten newbies away from ever posting again. Give a guy/gal abreak!!

Seeing as how you seem to be relatively new here, you had better get use to
it! Some of us - ME - will fry a person for being stupid. Illiterate doesn't
count as that can not be helped.

Malke said "I completely do not understand". That means that she did not get
one bit of the question.

If she had said "I don't completely understand", that would mean that she
did get at least a part of it!

Now, go to bed child!

Appreciate very much! Thanks. Not like some ppl who put

-----Original Message-----
You have to have a .net passport. If you sign up for
free hotmail you'd automatically get your .net passport
if I remember correctly. Check their page as to whether
you can use your Yahoo e-mail address.

You are absolutely right Richard, I am relatively new here, as we probably all were at some time or another and I apologise unreservedly for my uncharacteristic comments to Malke. I accept that these NG's exist so that more experienced users like yourself can help newcomers to computing and should do so without making these newcomers feel that they are being a nuisance to the NG community.
My reply to the original post was by way of trying to help as I "completely" understood what Shannon was trying to say. The last part of Malke's reply was rather curt ("Rephrase if you want help") Correct maybe, but could seem like a telling off from teacher to the inexperienced here.

So fry away Richard, but don't turn the heat up too much...the oil might spit up one day and burn you.

I'm off to bed, where's my Teddy?

your mummy "Moron" guess u understand this right? :p
Beside even microsoft mvp also didn't complain about my
language, all this while ppl have been helpful here, only
a few bad apples like u...... And don't forget one thing,
this is a site for worldwide, not only guys from usa or
britain have access to, ppl from different parts of the
world would also seek help at this site, so you expect
everyone from different country to be so fluent as you,
don't forget u are born in usa!!! Could u speak
fluent "tamil or chinese" if you're not born in this
country.....so pls mind your words!!!!! :p

Look, I feel I need to pop in and say that I certainly wasn't trying to
insult Shannon, but to say that I didn't understand her last question
AT ALL. Asking a poster to rephrase and/or provide more details is not
rude - it is often necessary. As I often say, there are many people
reading this newsgroup who want to provide help - like me - but we
can't see your computer from here. What may seem perfectly obvious to
the Original Poster may not be to the person trying to help. Therefore,
the request for clarification.

Additionally, this newsgroup is generally English-language, although
there are many posters for whom English is not their native language.
If it appears that the OP will understand the answer in English then I
always go ahead and answer. If I can't understand the question and/or
it seems to me that my answer might be misinterpreted because of a
language barrier, I suggest the OP use one of the many MS newsgroups
for their native language.

I hope this has cleared things up. For Shannon, I'm glad you've got
things sorted. For Coliboy, well... maybe he should read up about
Usenet here:

You need a passport for it (or for the Windows Messenger built into XP).
All you need in order to get one is an e-mail address genuine enough
that you can receive a mail from Passport to check and respond to, so as
to ensure things are genuine. You can use your Yahoo account for that,
and either use the same password for the Passport or choose a different
one.

When you go to Messenger and start signing in, using NET Messenger
service, there is a link to 'Get a NET passport'

Alex,

If you could clarify one last point which Shannon may have been asking.
If she/he intends opening a Hotmail account then she/he will have to have a new e-mail address e.g "(e-mail address removed)" or similar, as logging in to hotmail or msn wouldn't be possible using "(e-mail address removed)".
I think this is what was meant by;
"...could I used yahoo email and password ..?".

And, my sincere thanks to Malke for providing the links in her last post. I am in the process of doing a lot of reading!

She would need a hotmail address to use hotmail; I thought she was
asking if she could get a *passport* for Messenger using her yahoo email
address - which she can. You do not have to do anything at all in
relation to hotmail in order to get a .NET passport.
