Having problem maximise window

Sometimes when I open window, it wouldn't go to the
maximise, I have to click on the maximise button or use
the mouth to drag it open. Any idea what's going on? If
I'm not wrong, there should be a setting which I could
change, have done it before, but forgotten the step to do
it.
 
Hi,

Do not use Maximize. Stretch the window out using the double arrows, then
use File/Close, re-open the window.
