Maximising programs from the taskbar

I am having issues with maximising the programs from the taskbar. It will
not allow you to click on the item to bring it back maximised. It will allow
you to switch windows with ALT+TAB. This is really annoying. If you right
click on the program it has the option of restore but it should allow single
click to open the window again. Any Ideas?

Try the Last Known Good Configuration or restore a System Restore restore
point that pre-dates the problem.

Hello Eric

The strange thing is when I tried to do this I did a restart and but with
the same settings and it all worked fine again. This is very strange. So I
suppose the answer to this issue was top reboot the PC. I always think that
restarting the machine is a workarround rather than a fix. But thanks for
your help. The main reason I ask this question is that this is not the first
time it has happened. so I was looking to see if anyone has managed to find
a fix or a setting that is used to enable or disable this function. Thanks
for you help.
