I have windows 98, but no office program, therefore no excel. I need excel
but all new programs need windows 2000, XE, or ME. How can I get an excel or
complete office program that is compatible with my computer? Once I have it,
will I have to remove 98 from my computer.

You are confusing your windows operating system with the ms
office software. for example with windows 98 you can
install MS Office 2000. YTou need to purchase your "office
program".

The problem, of course, is that Microsoft no longer sells any version of
Office other than Office 2003, and Office 2003 will only work with Windows
2000 (SP3), Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP.

There may be some difficulty finding an older version of Office for sale
still, since Office 2003 came out in about a year and a half ago.

I have only seen current MS Office products in stores and online, which need
a more current windows ... at least that's what they said the requirements
were. How/where can I buy Office 2000 so it will run with my system? So far
it seems the more current software needs windows 2000, ME, etc to be able to
install it. I may be confused still... please help!
