I'm on XP home ed on a Netvista. I have connectivity, and
can ping internet sites & have them resolve, so doesn't
seem to be a DNS issue. In IE tho, it shows connecting
to 'the ip address', but then the bar just sits at about
the 1/3 point - never errors out, just sits eternally.

I have checked every place that I can find regarding
disabling firewalls, etc.

Anyone have any suggestions???

Thank you!!!

First eliminate any scumware.
See

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

Hi Frank - I ran all these utilities - it cleaned up a few
things, but still no luck :-(
(there wasn't much on it since this computer has only been
connected to the internet a couple of times prior to me
getting the network set up)
Are there any 'tests' I can run to see what might be
blocking the http?
Thank you for the utility ref - I'm running it now on my
laptop & love it!

What did they say when you posted your HijackThis log to the directed forum?

What utility?
