Hard to get to icon page

After I shut down the computer, I have to re-boot about
three times befor I can get to the icon page. When I first
turn the computer on it looks fine up untill I click OK
for the password (I don't have a password) then an hour
glass comes on and nothing happens. I have to reboot three
times to get to the icon page. I need help out there
PLEASE.

have you ever defragmented your computer? or emptied your
recycle bin? or cleaned out your temp folder? these are
things that can make your computer run extremely
slow........
