Hard Drive Problem

M

Mikey

I have a hard drive that has failed.

In an attempt to get some files off it before it hits the
bin I've added it as a second drive to another PC which
is also running XP. On start up it took about an hour
for it to verify and recover the files.

Now, when I explore the drive there's just one folder on
it called "FOUND.000" and the files in it are
called "FILE0000.CHK" through to "FILE9999.CHK".

Is there any way I can recover any of these files in
their original form?

Thanks,
Mike.

If you are after specific files -- eg a Word document
resume -- and you know some text that would be contained
in that file, you could search for it... ie, search, all
files, (select the dodgy drive), containing
text: "resume". If it finds any, try opening in Word or
notepad and see if its recoverable.
