CHK Files

I am working on Win2K Pro. Due to UPS failure & a sudden electricity
disruption, my PC didn't give me the chance to shut it down
conventionally. After electricity was restored, Windows started the
disk checking & found a few problems.

After checking, a folder named 'FOUND.000' (without the quotes) was
created on the C:\ drive. The folder listed 3 .CHK files named
'FILE0000.CHK', 'FILE0001.CHK' & 'FILE0002.CHK' (again without the
quotes).

When I moved the mouse pointer over these 3 files, all the 3 files
generated the same tooltip saying "Recovered File Fragment - pieces of
files found when your disk was scanned".

Do I need to do anything with the 3 CHK files? If no, is it safe to
delete them permanently from my m/c?

What happened when you restarted the pc was chkdsk ran and found broken
chains/ lost clusters, then created *.chk files of them so you can delete
them and regain the otherwise lost drive space.
