I need to backup my harddrive, but I've never done it
before. Can anyone suggest an easy to use utility? (One
that will hold my hand and treat me like I speak the same
language that it does?)
TIA

- What exactly do you wish to back up?
- Where do you wish to back up to?
- What tools (if any) do you have to do the job?

I wish to back up the entire harddrive, I'm thinking cd's
would be best, and that is the question I'm asking...what
utility should I use?

Hi OD,

I use ghost, a backup utility from the folks at Norton. Ghost will
backup a hard drive as compressed files, onto CDs if you want, or do
what I do, use Ghost to clone your whole hard drive to another.

When your main drive throws a rod or something, just switch your backups
drive jumpers from slave to master and you're finished. Every now and
then run the clone function and you'll never be too far behind when it
all seems to go to hell. If you use a removable hard drive as your
backup. it also won't be vulnerable to infections the main boy might
encounter.

I'd suggest you use Norton Ghost... that'll very nicely burn a back-up your
hard drive to a set of CD's or DVD's (bootable for restoration, if you
wish)... with a very simple to use program run from a diskette, which it
makes for you.

Drive Image is good too... but I prefer Ghost for system drives.
