I have this recent problem and it doesn't seem to have an
answer to repair it. When opening outlook it just hangs or
freezes up. You can't close it or do anything else in the
program. The only way you can get out of it is to use the
task manager and close it that way. This is a problem on
my windows XP system at home where I use outlook as my
mail system, and also at work where outlook is on an
exchange server-running windows 2000. The outlook program
I am using is from office 2000 pro.

I tried to uninstalling and then reinstalling the office
2000 pro program, and it still does the same thing. I am
the Technical Liaison here with the State but I have never
had this type of problem with outlook. If someone has an
answer for me I would appreciate it very much. I need to
find a fix ASAP, and I don't know where else to look.

Thank you Robert Sweetman

Hello Robert,

please use the ERazer to uninstall OFFICE, because the
normal uninstallation do not uninstall all file out of the
registry.

After U use it, install Office again.
If the problem is there after that, please post again.

Find and rename the outcmd.dat file.

You can also try opening outlook using the /safe switch.

FWIW, uninstall and reinstall rarely fixes problems.
