Outlook 2000 hangs upon start

When I boot up in the morning and click on Outlook (2000) it starts
downloading my emails. But, it will hang up before all emails are
downloaded. Only solution is to shut down Outlook. I open it again and the
rest of the emails are listed and the rest of the day Outlook works just
fine. I must say that this problem is about a month old and my computer is
noticeably slower in booting up. I suspect McAfee, but I really don't know
what is going on. Why is some email causing my Outlook to hang up? By the
way, when I close Outlook, I get the box that says the program has quit
working. Thanks.

If you suspect McAfee, have you tried turning off mail scanning in it?

What type of email account?

How frequently are you checking for new mail? If you have it set to check
too soon and the first pass isn't finished yet it can lock up. This was very
common in the older versions of outlook.

You should also disable virus scanning of new mail.
